2nd Virtual Open Days with Sustainable Development in Werner Kenkel!

We had the great pleasure to gather a wide group of experts and enthusiasts of sustainable development to discuss the key issues related to sustainable business operations. Piotr Jeske, Sustainable Development Manager at Werner Kenkel, started the meeting by presenting the previous actions of our company within the scope of ESG.

The panel on “Business for the climate” with Marcin Popkiewicz, a physicist, megatrend analyst and science promoter, showed us why climate changes must take the centre of business-related debate. The discussion concerned the need to adapt business strategies to the changing climate conditions and the role of companies in the fight against climate changes.

Anna Bielak-Dworska from the Family Business Institute held a discussion with Joanna Wis-Bielewicz on sustainable transformation. It was discussed what this notion meant for business and what benefits came from the implementation of sustainable practices. Marta Krawczyk from SGS Polska presented the benefits from the use of paper and cardboard packaging in a closed circuit economy, which helped to reduce waste and protect natural resources.

The first part of this day ended with the summary and presentation of Joanna Maraszek from Plan Be Eco on technologies supporting sustainable transformation. Experts: In the discussion moderated by Professor Ewa Więcek-Janke from the Poznań University of Technology, Filip Piotrowski (UNEP GRIDW), Piotr Ślusarz (Stena Recycling), Oliwa Tran (Żywiec Group), Marcin Łaba (Metsä Board) and Piotr Jeske (Werner Kenkel) discussed the impact, opportunities and risks for the packaging industry in the context of environmental protection. New technologies supporting the Green Deal were also presented, and Katarzyna Lenart from NCBR talked about modern technological solutions favourable to sustainable transformation. Emilia Ślimko and Maciej Antkowiak from Osada Earth (Earth Settlement), Stowarzyszenie Osada Możliwości (Settlement of Possibilities Association), inspired the participants with regenerative practices for business.

We wish to thank all the participants for attendance in the 2nd Virtual Open Days with Sustainable Development in Werner Kenkel!
