We’ve already visited the Wild West, explored the underwater world, and experienced a space mission! This time, young readers at the Municipal Public Library in Leszno embarked on a winter adventure!
Work on the winter-themed scenery began during the summer. In August, during a meeting with library representatives, the main theme was determined, and plans were made for the cardboard decorations that would be created. From graphic designs to meticulous craftsmanship, every stage of the project was refined by our team in the Product Development Department. In November, the completed elements, including cardboard igloos, penguins, and a campfire, were installed at the library on Jana Metziga Square, transforming it into a magical winter wonderland.
The highlight of the project was the Saturday event “Werner Kenkel Reads to Children,” which took place on November 30th. We invited our employees and their children to participate. The program was divided into two age groups to ensure activities tailored to the needs of both younger and older participants.
To kick things off, President Adam Kenkel transported the children to Reksio’s world by reading about his winter adventure. Next came art workshops where the children decorated cardboard teddy bears. The storytelling relay was taken over by Róża Grzelewska and President of MZZ, Mr. Dariusz Lorych, who read tales from “Winter Forest” and “Winter Night.” Older children also had the chance to hear inspiring stories – Norbert Konieczny captivated young listeners with the book “Snow White: Winter Forest,” Joanna Śląśka brought them into the world of “Anuszka and the Friendly Tigress,” and Mr. Dariusz Lorych told the story of “The Polar Bear Cub.”
Both groups participated in workshops prepared by the Municipal Greenery Department, which we invited as a partner for the event. The younger group met with Ms. Marta from the Animal Shelter in Henryków, who was accompanied by one of the shelter’s residents, a dog named Poluś. During the workshop, she shared stories about the shelter’s animals and their journey to finding new homes. For the older children, Mr. Michał from the Mini Zoo in Leszno gave a fascinating presentation about how animals survive winter, their migrations, and how to care for pets during colder months. Sweet treats and aromatic coffee for the adults filled the breaks between activities.
This event was not only an opportunity for shared fun but also a chance to promote reading and support local initiatives. We thank everyone who contributed to this project. We warmly invite you to visit the Municipal Public Library in Leszno to see the winter scenery in person, which will be available for visitors for some time.
Let the magic of winter continue!
We encourage you to check out the coverage of this event.
